Modcloth Purchase November

For over a year I have had clothes waiting in my basket at Modcloth, picking a new choose different styles and reading review after review of clothes and accessories.
Finally after going through my closet I decided it was about time I suck up the nervous and make an order.
I have order once before but that was at a different weight and those items don't fit anymore.
The items I picked were two tops, two dress, a part of pants and a turquoise necklace.

Bright and Baubly Necklace in Mint $19.99 USD
Love Ballad Tunic in Sheer Tan Size:1X $39.99 USD
Teacher's Petal Top in Yellow Size:1X
$44.99 USD

Carefree Crescendo Pants in Black Size 1X $44.99 USD
Work this Way Dress in Red Plaid Size 1X $27.99
From Office to Outing Dress Size:1X $69.99 USD

The only item that didn't have much in the way of reviews was the pants, as they are new to the store. Taking a leap of faith I bought them.
Now these are probably not the best photos I have ever take, but I have to figure out a better way to take them.
The Plaid dress in Red, is gorgeous. It is make with light weight fabric that can be layered to make warmer in the colder months, and the sleeves are cut so they are not restricted of the arms.

The Tunic, is definitely long on my 5'2' frame. But there is definitely enough room to move in it, the sleeves are not tight at all, like some long sleeve tops and it has cut little ties to hold the cuffs up.
The next is my favourite, the Teacher petal top, now this is my first time wearing yellow, I always shy away from really bright colours, but change is good.
In all the top is perfect, beautifully cut.
Being big busted doesn't help in the buying of tops, especially when it comes to button up tops, I have learnt to size up. Being so this fits perfectly.
Now in terms of the pants, they are a perfect fit. They hug in nice around the waist and make you situate curvy. This is only one problem... The stitching. As on as I tried them on writhing five minutes the front seam near the zipper came apart, mainly due to the single line of stitching holding the pants together. After trying a couple of different stitches, a tight 1mm zig zag worked the best, allowing the seam to stretch with the fabric.
I have only just tried this dress on and I love it. The fabric doesn't cling, it's flattering at the bust and waist. The belt is a shiny fake leather with gold buckle, and is just the right length.
Being 5'2' it comes just to my knees and the 3/4 length sleeves are not tight or too long. In a whole this dress is perfection.
What have your experiences with Modcloth been?
What has been your favorite item from them?

Erstwilder... That Quirky Accessory everyone needs

If you didn't know already Erstwilder is one of my favorite companies for brooches, earrings and necklaces. They are a Melbourne based company making quirky designs that fit every outfit. Their designs come out collections like that of winter 2015 ( which has some of the cutest foxes and birds I have ever seen). Designs are limited so you know you are getting a special piece right from the go. Made from layered resin these pieces being the fun to every outfit to get people talking. Not once have I worn a piece and not got a compliment.
For the last two years I have been collecting pieces, my first piece was Polly the Pug, just after I got my own pug Daisey May.
As you can see the colours are amazing and they pick up like really well, so they almost glow.
My second one was not long after, I have always loved owls and they appearance through out history, becoming wise in Shakespeare's play. So what's better then a wise owl? A wise owl with Glasses
Enter Waldo the Wise Owl. I bought these two online through Ebay, the fact they came in these cute round boxes make them even more perfect.
My next pretty was Kimberly Cupcake, the fact it's has leopard print icing sold me... It's so cute.
And who can have Christmas with out a Christmas one? I was searching for the deer for ages and I went in to a small store in Berry on the South Coast of New South Wales and there it was.
Not traditional Christmas cookouts, but you have to think outside of the box sometimes and this could be warn want time of year (however I save it for Christmas).
My pretty Emry the Asleep Fox was bought in Moss Vale in a shop called Viva Moss Vegas. The cutiest shop that sells a large range of rockabilly and pinup products. And there she was I had to get her. The fact I have two now with glasses seems to be a running theme.
And last but not least is Patsy's Glasses my first necklace from Erstwilder.
The make of the necklace makes it look like they on a chain like in the 50's so you don't loss your glasses.

In terms of traveling if I go away for more then a day I pack my Erstwilder cause they make any outfit pop!
Here they are in my Globe Light suit case safe and sound. I normally bring the whole lot along with me so I can pick and  choose. Sometimes I wear more then one, like a necklace and brooch together. So if you haven't check out Erstwilder yet I hope I have give. You enough reasons now to start collecting.

Bésame Makeup Review

After searching and waiting, I finally got my hands on a Bésame makeup compact. And first impressions are WOW they know how to impress a girl with packaging and presentation.
I ordered mine from www.damselsanddames.com for $39 + postage. They were a very easy site to navigate and pretty quick postage. I got mine in a medium as I have gotten a little tanned from all the traveling my man and I have done.
Each layer of the packaging you unwrap is better then the last.
Then you get to this little velvet bag, and you think wait it's that small???
I love the protective bag they come in and the contrast keeping to original designs.
And the case it's self is beyond beautiful it is nothing like I have found in vintage stores or hinting online.
Then you click the little button and inside is more perfection.
As you can see the brand name and colour theme run through out the product. I was a little disappointed the the size but I stopped and thought at least this will fit in to any bag or purse and it is in itself a representation of me compact and vintage.

Now comes time to the makeup inside. The makeup inside is small be gee does it pack a punch. I used a large powder brush to apply it like I normally do and it's coverage is the best yet. And I say this having worn a lot of well know brands makeup.
I normally don't wear a lot of make up as I have nice skin (so I haven been told) and only wear full makeup for special occasions.
I choose a medium shade and was a little worried it would be too dark with my skin tone, it was a little but I just spread it out more and it gave me a wonderful glow to my face.

In conclusion, Bésame is one of the best vintage replicate beauty products I have ever used and would recommend it to anyone that wants authentic vintage make up.

What have your experiences with Bésame been like??

Outfit Post 2

Well like I promised a while back I am going to start posting more. Starting with outfits.
Something simple. I was still feeling sick during this and wanted to get out of the house. The cardigan is from JayJays but is not longer available, skirt is Voodoo Vixen that I bought online through pretty in pinup. Brooch is Erstwilder Emry the Asleep Fox in purple. Belt is Kmart and stocking from woolworths. It was so comfortable and easy to wear.
Outfit two is another favorite, another simple outfit. Basic red cardigan from cotton on, skirt and belt from Kmart stockings are from Lovehoney bought by my Man, they are the best plus size stockings I have ever worn. The suspended belt is from England bought online for $30. Also more Erstwilder with Polly the Pug.  I am in the market for a new one but am looking for a specific one that has better back straps on the back of the thigh as I find my stockings slip down a lot.
Outfit three is another simple but classic. Simple black shirt, Kmart belt again (need to find a new one) skirt from China only $14 and Erstwilder Kimberly Cupcake brooch. Also under this outfit if you can't tell I am wearing my under bust corset bought online from eBay. I am waiting for my new one to arrive from Orchard Corsety (so excited). I found my pervious one was too long for my waist.

Have you had problems like this? Do tell

Love you darling Rosey

Vintage find of the Week

This weeks Vintage find of the Week is a cute little beauty case from Mickey and Molley. Was only $9 and is beyond cute and perfect for what I need. I needed a case that would fit my sponge curlers and not crush them. What better then a vintage case?
I love how it matches my hair curlers, haha.
My vintage store in town has a wonderful collection of case and bags that can be used for some many different things. Be prepared for more posts about them.

Wet Set attempt 1- Short Hair

With my recent hair cut I now have more options in terms of pin curls. I am still new to the wet setting and have only done it half a dozen times and as it shorter it is more difficult to get it in the rollers but with a lot of patience it worked.
I used this pattern to section my hair, obviously the girl in the pictures hair is longer and pined up, but I just used it for the pattern only. I also used sponge rollers and pin curl clips instead of a curling wand.
You probably can't tell from the photo the pattern, but like I said I am still learning and you have to start somewhere.
The next morning I took the back rollers out first and brushed them out and then started on the front. All up it took me an hour to style my hair in the morning, with having shorter hair I didn't want it to look like it was tucked under but more of nicely formed curls. One major problem I faced was my fringe, as I am growing out my bangs, they are still too short to fit in nicely with the rest of my hair. So in these situations it was pinned back in a twist.

Probably not the best photo but hey I got called in to work early.

Hello it's me again!!!

Well Hello there world!
How are you all doing? How is society treating you?
I myself think society is making us hate ourselves, the way we look, eat and dress. All these infomercial, programs, magazines and news people talking about the next diet crazy and how good someone looks after they have lost weight, along with how bad they felt before about themselves.
Well I am here to tell you, losing weight does not make you happier about yourself. Two years ago I lost 20kg and I was the saddest most depressed person ever. I have put the weight back on since then, but do you know what I am happy with who I am now, I love food! I like my rolls and curves they are me, they make me. If I can't love me now how am I meant to love myself went I loss weight.
And if the people around you are telling you to loss weight, they most likely don't like themselves or are brainwashed by society.
If you can't love yourself the way you are now how are others meant to love you. Accept yourself and all your faults and work it. Cause there is only one you and one life, LIVE IT !!!

My little shop

My sister and I have a little shop, originally it was just me, doing some craft and one of the ladies at work said I should start selling them. And that's were it started all small and just selling things through ebay slowly. Now as I dig deeper in to the world of selling online the more I have learned. I have recently opened a Etsy store and with that comes a lot easier way of selling.
For me it's nice to share my creations with the world and seeing people happy.
From hair bows to roses, alone with baby bibs and brooches. Small things to start and the more we sell the more we make.
Most of the rings are under $15 only some which take more time then the small things that's why that are a bit more expensive.
Still learning, from what sellings to how to sell it.

Check out my store and tell me what you think https://www.etsy.com/shop/SewingMissRosey

Accepting your self

The day you accept yourself for who and what you are, you will be a much better person. I am not just talking about accepting yourself as moody, but more so about yourself as a person in society and where you belong in it.
That's the main thing isn't it, accepting that your place in society is totally different to that of your friends, sisters or partners.
Me for example I have struggled all my life with being over weight and not looking the same as my childhood friend who was a Aussie size 8, compared to my 14. Yeah I starved myself and got down to a 10 but as soon as I realized who I was I started eating again and it just went straight back on and more. But for once in my life I am happy with what size I am because I am a happy person. I am not trying to fit in to the stereotypical image of what is "cool" I am being me. The big boob, big ass kind of girl with a classic hour glass figure, and if people don't like that then don't look at me.
As a child I always had doctors at me saying I was fat and need to not eat as much at the age of 12 I went to a dietitian and I was only 8kg over the top weight for someone my height, even though I am short.
But here's the thing, I come from a lng family history of big people, we all love or food, I am not talking about the fatty foods, I am talking about the pastas, salads, roast dinner, deserts.
I changed doctors and he simply put it it's in your genes to be this big, you can either work really hard and try and get some off or you can accept it and just eat healthy like you are. I have nothing wrong with cholesterol, sugar or thyroid, I am just a normal voluptuous lady.
This summer was the first time I accept who I am, I looked at all these people on the beach and decided what the hell, yes my legs are not the perfectly toned legs of the beach peope, my I am me and if you don't like my legs then don't look at me. That was the first time since I was very young that I didn't were board shorts to hide my fat legs away I worn a one piece and was proud of it!
You should be proud of who you are, no matter what anyone says. Because it is only your opinion of yourself.

From eBay to Etsy

As many people are looking to make a few extra dollars on top of the usually weekly pay, and who doesn't love shopping online. But what site do you use how can your sight reach more people?
I began on eBay, believing that with the wide availability of eBay it would reach a wider audience. However with eBay I found that with the such wide audience available and the great import of cheap mass production items, by handmade limited addition items go lost in the search.
With this in mind I have start the switch to Etsy, a online selling site that only sells handmade items. I have loved Etsy for a long time and opening a store in Etsy was a lot easier, cheaper and more editing options then that of Ebay.

Outfit Post

So who doesn't love a post about outfits? I sure do and as I view more and more outfits that are now available in a vintage theme, I am wishing I had more money to spend on clothes. However like most of people that are not going to happen until I become a teacher. In the spirit of cheap shopping I will share my cheap finds that look a million bucks.
Firstly always look around, just because you see something in a store doesn’t mean that you cant find a simple cheaper thing somewhere else or even online. I love online shopping it definitely is one of my favorite past times. Vintage skirts are hard to find especially when you don’t have that much money to spend $50 or more on a skirt like Hell Bunny (which I still love). As an adventure in to the world of circle skirts I ordered this skirt from china through Ebay, for only $22.74. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251704420700 I double checked the size as you could imagine some sizes are not the same in all countries. I received the skirt and was over the moon with it!

In this photo I have a petticoat underneath which I also bought online always http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/27-Retro-50s-Vintage-Petticoat-Underskirt-Swing-Fancy-Net-Skirt-Rockabilly-Tutu-/181572910198 for $17.98 pretty cheap and as a starter in to the world of vintage is a good start.
In terms of tops, I raid the local stores for tops that could easily go with other vintage items. You will be very surprised with what you will find in stores like Target, Kmart or even shops like Katies.
Compared to what you will pay for proper Vintage clothes, you’re looking at over $200 for top, skirt and petticoat. I think it’s a good compromise for the girl on the tight budget.

What finds have you found? Any bargains? Online or in-store? I would love to hear.

New Beginnings

New year starts a new beginnings of something good. I personally wanted to start a blog, not just about my life and how I go through the day to day struggles but also on the things I find.
So a little about me to start with...
I am a 23 year old women working part time at a liquor store and also studying a Bachelors degree, a double major in English and Ancient History. Next year I am planning to do my Masters in Secondary Teaching (so excited). I live with my Partner in Australia with our two babies (dogs) a Pug called Daisey May and a Kelpie called Keith.
I run a small store called Sewing Miss Rosey with my sister, we sell online and soon to have a shop front. Selling mainly hair accessories along with other handmade items.
I am in love with vintage and retro things mainly the 50's and early 60's, all things from house decorations to makeup style.

This blog will hopefully be my creative outlet for writing as well as sharing my simple finds and creations.
